That large device taking up most of the room is, obviously, a telescope.

The small device on the table that is projecting the image of the Castle of Dreams, however, is just a mirror. Astronomers in this world quickly realized that looking in a tiny little eyepiece to observe things in telescopes is a bit silly, causes headaches, and leaves one open to the classic blackeye gag. Thus, through a clever system of lenses, the image is instead reflected off a mirror to make it easier to see. Makes far more sense. Maybe.
